Behavior
Mary didn’t hesitate this time.
“I think I see it now,” she said. “Time matters. Risk isn’t just the market. Cash gives you control.”
Breed Holloway nodded.
“And what ties all of that together?” he asked.
Mary paused.
“I’m not sure.”
Breed leaned forward slightly.
“Behavior,” he said.
Mary frowned.
“You mean how people act?”
“Exactly,” Breed replied. “Every investment decision eventually comes down to behavior.”
He continued.
“You can have the right investment… the right strategy… even the right timing.”
Mary listened carefully.
“But if your behavior breaks down,” he said, “none of it holds.”
Mary thought about the past.
“So it’s not just about what you own.”
Breed shook his head.
“It’s about whether you can stay with it.”
Mary sat back.
“That sounds simple.”
Breed smiled.
“It is,” he said. “But it’s not easy.”
He paused before adding one more thought.
“Most investors spend their time trying to find better investments.”
Mary looked at him.
“What should they be doing instead?”
Breed’s expression didn’t change.
“Understanding themselves.”
Next week, Mary begins to question something most investors never stop to examine:
Decisions.
